Your seawall is so important to your lakefront property. Make sure you're taking all the steps to ensure it lasts as long as possible and performs well!
Visual Inspection
You should be looking your seawall over regularly. Look for cracks, rot, splitting, termite damage, or anything else that doesn't look right.
It may not be a bad idea to have a professional look over your seawall yearly, also. A professional may notice things you don't.
Get Repairs Right Away
If your seawall has anything wrong with it, make sure you are getting these repairs done. Be sure you contact someone to fix it as soon as possible. Most of the time, those tiny problems can often lead to even bigger and more expensive problems in the long run.
Remove Vegetation
The spring and summer months can bring lots of vegetation in and around your seawall. Like with many things including your seawall, some plants can cause major structural damage. They may not be a problem when they first start growing and are still small, but as they become bigger their roots can begin to make cracks in your seawall. It is important to keep up with pulling the plants around your seawall as soon as you see them.
