How to Install Your Boat Lift Canopy Cover: Step-by-Step Guide

  • 2 min read

Boat docked under a green canopy on a lake, calm water reflecting nearby trees. Bright blue sky, serene and peaceful atmosphere.

Installing a boat lift canopy cover can help protect your boat from the elements. Follow this step-by-step guide to ensure a proper installation.

Materials Needed

  • Boat lift canopy cover

  • Bungees

  • Ladder (if necessary)

Step 1: Prepare the Area

Clear the area around your boat lift to ensure you have enough space to work. Remove any debris or obstructions that may hinder the installation process. We also recommend that you have your boat on the lift at this time to make installation easier and to ensure your lift won't take off like a kite.

Step 3: Position the Canopy Cover

Place the folded canopy cover on the center bar of your canopy frame and extend the cover in all directions until the cover completely covers the frame with 2 inches of overhang on each side. Determine the correct positioning of the canopy cover over the frame. Make sure it is centered and properly aligned.

Step 4: Attach the Canopy Cover

  • Start by securing one end of the canopy cover to the frame.

  • Gradually work your way to the other end, pulling the cover taut as you go.

  • Use your bungees to secure the cover to the frame, ensuring it is tight and free from sagging.

Step 5: Secure the Cover

Once the canopy cover is attached, make any necessary adjustments to ensure it is evenly distributed. Double-check that all straps and ties are secure to prevent flapping in the wind.

Step 6: Final Inspection

Inspect the entire installation to ensure everything is secure and properly positioned. Make any final adjustments as needed.

Step 7: Maintenance Tips

  • Regularly check the canopy cover for signs of wear or damage.

  • Clean the cover periodically to remove dirt and debris.

  • Store the cover properly during the off-season to extend its lifespan.

Following these steps will help you successfully install your boat lift canopy cover, providing your boat with the protection it needs from the elements.
